Dear Cyndi,
From a museum standpoint the accession/object file should always contain
any documentation about condition and any reports regarding conservation
work done on the object. The important part is documentation of the work
done- not necessairly what was paid for the work that was done (although
this is usually part of the record). Is there some reason that you can't
file a copy of the receipt (not the original) in the car's file? We have
many objects in our collection that have had conservation work done on them-
but I only have copies of receipts in the accession/object file. The
originals have gone on to our accounting folks.
Sincerely,
David Ryan
