I found this very, very late (I guess it was advertised elsewhere), but thought I would share the info; if nothing else, I think it is helpul to see job descriptions so young hopefuls can know what areas to focus on in their pursuit of experience/education.
Although this is only short-term anyway, so it isn't really something to pursue...

Overview:
The Media Technology Board and New Technology & New Media department is seeking a Taxonomy Intern to help in the development of leveraging descriptive, administrative, and structural metadata to support the functional requirements of an expanding media interoperability strategy.  

The Taxonomy Intern will work closely with the Corporate Nomenclature Taxonomist and the Media Technology Board, and will be responsible for creating and editing terms and records for the Disney Nomenclature Registry system, a centralized corporate thesaurus of controlled vocabularies used to enhance the search and retrieval of digital media assets.  The Taxonomy Intern will serve as an "librarian editor" of the Nomenclature Registry, maintaining published data and ensuring integrity of information.  This requires research and analysis of company terminology, confirmation and ingestion of definitions (scope notes), biographies, authority lists, and relating relevant cross references and term associations.

With the Corporate Nomenclature Taxonomist, the Taxonomy Intern will actively participate in evolving developments in metadata standards and cataloging of digital media in the library, government, and industry sectors and make recommendations as needed.

Responsibilities:
∑ Determine appropriate content for hierarchical work and item records
∑ Reconcile issues of data content between various record structures
∑ Approve and process submitted terms from various business units
∑ Complete term records 
∑ Conduct research projects for categorical additions
∑ Implement categorical expansions 
∑ Assist in training and development
∑ Maintain awareness of advances in image cataloging, metadata standards, and database technology
∑ Attend conferences and seminars on digital asset management as appropriate
∑ Assist New Technology & New Media staff as needed

Requirements:
o Currently matriculating, or acquired degree, in library and information science (MLS), film studies, computer science, museum studies, or relevant experience.  Masters in Library Science candidate preferred.

o Fluency in computer digital/media asset management systems, with strong grasp of the current state of information technology

o Familiarity of content management, database architecture, and knowledge management 

o Experience in archiving or cataloging images, audio-visual assets, or other broadcasting media 

o Familiarity with thesauri construction, lexicography, taxonomies, indexing practices, classification schemes and controlled vocabularies 

o Experience in media and entertainment preferred

o Excellent written & verbal communication skills

o Substantial proficiency in using a variety of online web systems and search engines
