At my museums we always had very significant staff discounts (charging only
cost of item to us), I also had the policy of giving staff Christmas gifts
from our gift shop. This virtually eliminated "shrinkage" from the gift
shop. In one museum, in five years I had only one instance of a staffer
taking an item without permission. Members usually had a 15-25% discount
from retail, staff would get anywhere from 50 to 80% discount, depending on
item.

Subject: Staff discounts in gift shop
Hi. I was wondering if any of you have a standard museum shop discount for
staff members. What is your discount, and is it more than discounts for
museum members? Thanks. Any and all information would help.
