Sara (and others),
I did the same thing that your doing. I wanted to get
into collection management in a museum and went the
route of an MLS. Currently I do hold a position at a
museum as the cataloging and research associate but
the collection manager here and at the last museum I
worked at both hold their MLS. So I think that for
positions related to collections the MLS is a great
degree to get. Although it does always help to have a
specialized degree in the area that the museum
specializes in.
My only advice to you would be make sure your
internship is in a museum and if you are writing a
thesis for this program write it about something
related to museum work.
