Visitor Services Manager
FLSA Classification: Full-time/Exempt
Department: Visitor Services
General Summary: Manage and supervise the daily operations of the
Visitor Services program. Develop and maintain high standards for
exceptional services for Arboretum members and other visitors. Promote
Arboretum visitation and membership through the speakers' bureau and
other outreach efforts. The Visitor Services Manager will be a key figure
in developing strategies to strengthen visitation and to encourage visitors
to become members.
Job Qualifications:
Previous Training and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in museum management, communications, and/or public
relations, or comparable field.
3-5 years employment in public service roles.
Experience with the management of museum visitor and/or membership
programs desirable.
Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience.
Must have outstanding oral and written communication skills as well as
experience in public speaking.
Proficiency needed in MS Office (Word & Excel).
Experience utilizing TAM Point of Sale (POS) software helpful.
Physical/Mental Requirements:
Must find satisfaction in working with the public and be energized by public
contact.
Possess an outgoing, friendly, and enthusiastic personality.
A customer service-oriented individual who is able to relate effectively
with people of various backgrounds and ages and who can be consistently
courteous and patient.
Ability to energize staff to achieve excellence in public service.
Must have excellent administrative and organizational skills to handle a
variety of activities simultaneously and effectively.
Working Conditions
1. Work is performed indoors (85%), outdoors (10%) and off-site (5%).
2. Must be available for weekend and evening work schedule.
3. Requires some physical activity: lifting and carrying (25 lbs.), climbing
stairs, prolonged periods of standing/sitting.
