Perhaps an "In Memoriam" listing at the end of your contributors list,
if you have a Special Issue that contains such a thing?

Subject: Volunteer Deaths
We have had several volunteers pass away in the past year. Several
people want to do an "obits" section in our museum membership magazine.
This magazine is mailed out to all of the members of the museum. I am
opposed to doing this in our Membership Magazine. I am also worried
that some folks will be upset that we did not do this for their loved
ones when they passed away. Is there anyone that has faced this
situation in the past that can offer some advice?
