Hello All,
I am writing on behalf of the Lexington Children's Museum to request some
information on the structure of other exhibit departments of children's
museums or science centers.
We have some new faces with new approaches at our museum and are interested
in revamping the job descriptions of our exhibit department staff. In the
past we have had an exhibit designer (full time), exhibit technician (full
time) and an assistant exhibit technician (part time).
We recently lost our exhibit designer and exhibit techincian. An exhibit
coordinator (full time) was hired and now we have a part time exhibit
technician.
With the recent turnover and budget issues, we are considering outsourcing
our fabrication and keeping the staff to more administrative duties. The
question is then how to handle maintenance of current exhibits.
If you could send me some examples of exhibit department structures and job
descriptions it would be very helpful in determining a new direction for our
exhibit department.
Thank you,
Kara Davies
Exhibit Coordinator
