Sorry, I forgot to include two other important points about configuring
email software:
4. Don't send HTML copies of messages in addition to or instead of plain
text - this can more than double the size, as the unnecessary HTML
usually contains lots of redundant coding.
5. Don't send "Out of office" messages to mailing lists. I've just had a
batch of them after sending my previous message to Museum-L!
