As a boy of the 1950s, I would suggest:

Lincoln Logs
Bicycle (Schwin)
Erector set
Cap firing six-guns with holsters
Peddle vehicles (I had a jet)
Scooter
Tonka trucks, i.e. fire engine, ladder truck, dump truck
Underwear, socks, clothes (YUK!!)
Cloth handkerchiefs (Double YUK!!)
Beaded leather belt with your first name on the back (Cool)
Books
Howdy Doody (?) figure/doll
Pull toys - wood
Cowboys and Indians stuff
Army men (used for a wide variety of purposes)
BB guns, air rifles
Basketball, football, baseball gear
Bedroom slippers (YUK!)
Pet
Electric train set (Yahoo!!)
