Depending on how well sealed your cases are and how sensitive the objects in
the cases are, most water based paint inside sealed cases with sensitive
objects should be cured for at least 2 to 4 weeks before the case is closed.
Do not use oil based paint.
If you have ever removed the vitrine from a case at the close of an exhibit
and you get a burst of fresh paint fumes as soon as you lift the vitrine,
even though the exhibit has been up for months, you will understand why.
Try painting your bedroom, closing your doors and windows and see how long
you can stay in there.
An alternative is to ventilate the cases if the air outside the case is
clean. Also, filters can be installed. Another alternative is to use
marvelseal with fabric stretched over it. Pre wash the fabric a couple of
times in clean water to remove sizings.
