The Smithsonian Institution, National Air and Space Museum is advertising
for a Visual Information Specialist (Graphics) in the Exhibits Design
Division. The purpose of this position is to design exhibits and/or
exhibits-related graphics for the Museum on the National Mall and the
Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center. Applicants must have: 1) Skill in designing
exhibitions or visual products (such as graphic panels, interactive
interfaces, and explanatory graphics) for the purpose of explaining or
displaying information or objects in a museum environment; 2) Skill in the
use of computerized design programs, to include QuarkXPress, Adobe
Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Extensis Portfolio. This is a federal
position. The selectee will be hired at either the grade 7 (starting
salary: $32,736) or grade 9 ($40,044) depending on the level of experience.
This position has promotion potential to the grade 12. Job closes October
