the bar is very low as I understand it (from lots of reading, experience and
copyright workshops) - as long as it's not a straight "mechanical" copy
(i.e. two lights on light stands, pop the thing in front and click) it's
protected. So for example, photographing arrowheads - any decisions by the
photographer about lighting, film type, filtering, angle of view etc all
lead to the "originality" of that particular image.
