We have had VERY few problems with PastPerfect 2.6 --
I have asked for funds to upgrade to 3.0 for next
year, not because I don't like 2.6, but because I
thought we should stay current with the upgrades
available. Plus, 3.0 allows multiple photos for one
record, which I think will be useful for us as we
struggle to complete a Digital Imaging Project of our
26,000+ collection.
I'm puzzled that people have found it "clunky" or
"buggy" in any way. The only problems we've had
stemmed from computer problems that have messed with
the database. We do not have a computer person on
staff, so intalling the Networking Module was a bit of
a challenge for us. We needed help completing that
project. Also, I had some problems transferring data
from my old computer to my new one, and then my new
one locked up one day and I needed help restoring the
database after we reformatted the new computer. There
is a conflict between PastPerfect and some Epson
printers, which was inconvenient, but not really a big
deal.
I have never had a PastPerfect problem that was caused
by the program -- except a glitch once with a power
surge. Seems pretty run of the mill, really.
Tech support has NEVER put me off for more than 30
minutes, and they regularly call back the following
day with additional solutions, or to see if everything
is OK. They have never talked down to me the way some
tech support people have in the past (especially the
folks at Dell, who are NOT at all what their
commercials say they are!!!).
Anyway, we love PastPerfect and think it is an
excellent deal for the cost. I have no complaints
with program or staff at all.
