Hi Danielle,
Of course there is a cast amt. of literature on this sunject.
As a geologist, I would suggest you look at the Berkley Musuem of Paleo
website it is one of the best virtual musuems on-line.
Second, Smithson. did an excellent visitor eeperience/response to
installations analysis at Calif. M. of. Social interaction (eg, within
family) is a key component of the visitor experience. Clearly a fundamental
difference.
I'd start here.
