the material you are after is ethafoam - a nice inert stable material that
can easily be carved, glued and you can pretty much do what ever you need to
with it. It is often used for making supports for textile, whole torso
(body) mannikans have been made using it, we have also used it to like
shipping crates. you can hot melt glue it, or use a water soluable glue on
it. you can carve it with a good sharp knife or you can use an electric
kitchen carving knife. A very veratile material that comes in sheet form (in
a variety of thicknesses) and it can also be purchased in 3 x 8 foot planks,
again in a variety of thicknesses.
