DIRECTOR for Historical Society located on Boston's Northshore
Established in 1891, our organization has three historic properties and is
well-known for several of its collections. We seek a highly personable and
confident professional to steer the Society through next phases of a
ten-year plan that include: an upgrade of operations, community outreach
efforts, membership development, improving revenue linkages/fundraising, and
implementing a capital improvement campaign for restoration of Society's
flagship historic property. Will supervise a support staff of 2.75 FTE
employees and oversee a core group of 13 dedicated volunteers with varying
talents.
Desired Qualifications: Articulate and charismatic communicator with all
stakeholders; Significant hands-on administrative experience [in a museum
or non-profit setting]; Wide range of leadership skills to inspire and
involve business community, volunteers, donors, staff, and members; Proven
P/L bottom-line understanding; Practical grasp of museum programming, the
museum education function, and collections management; Flexible
availability for events, programs, meetings, and staffing during some
weekend/night hours; Working knowledge of Essex County-its history and
resources; Possession of a relevant Master's Degree.
Salary Range: $35-$39k, with standard vacation pay arrangement and health
insurance plan. TIAA/CREF retirement plan available. Compensation package
