Trent, you should keep in mind that many of these problematic objects may
have been acquired before our professional museum practices were in place.
I am the first professional curator at a small historical society that has
been collecting objects for over 85 years. Suffice it to say that there are
many very peculiar objects and many irrelevant objects that are candidates
for deaccessioning...however, today our policy is quite clear on what we do
collect, and such problems certainly will be more avoidable in the future.
