Coming Up Taller Applications Available
The Institute of Museum and Library Services, the President's Committee on
the Arts and Humanities, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the
National Endowment for the Humanities, are pleased to announce the sixth
year of the national Coming Up Taller Awards.
These awards recognize and support outstanding after-school and
out-of-school arts and humanities programs for children and youth. As First
Lady Laura Bush recently wrote, children participating in programs honored
by Coming Up Taller "learn success, discipline and teamwork. And above all,
they learn to love learning." These awards also highlight the important role
that educators, curators, historians, scholars, librarians, and performing
and visual artists play in children's lives.
Libraries and museums that meet the criteria for a Coming Up Taller Award
are encouraged to apply. Please log onto the Coming Up Taller Web site to
download an application at: http://www.cominguptaller.org. Contact the
