I think one of the reviewers of the Windows 95 launch got it about
right: "Windows 95 = Mac '89"!
I once had to set up for a course in Gothenburg 8 completely new PCs and
4 new Macs - with instructions and software in only Swedish
(which I don't speak or read). Despite 15 years PC/Windows experience and
never having touched a Mac before I had the Macs unpacked and running
using just instinct and dead-reckoning in a third of the time it took me
to get a PC set up.
The Mac problem is, as you say, software availability and cost...
