Hey! No one mentioned the enormously popular Ginny doll and her
trunk. I threw mine out when I got too old for dolls, so I had to buy a
1950s doll Ginny (and Betsy McCall and Tiny Tears).
My husband said he remembered the local 5- & 10-cent store promoting
PaperMate pens in two-tone colors that matched your car.
He also remembered getting a gyroscope and Ravell and Aurora model plane
and ship kits, in addition to little flash cameras -- with bonnets that you
had to put over the flash part, to reduce the red eye, or something.
