When I did a long-distance interview the museum did a phone interview first,
then paid for me to fly out twice. No overnights--I flew in in the morning
and out in the late afternoon. They told me they could not pay moving
expenses, since it was a municipal museum and city policy didn't allow it
for anyone below a certain executive level. The interviews went well, but I
saw some situations I didn't like on the 2nd interview and declined the job
when it was offered to me. They were very angry that they paid for me to
come twice and felt that I had "wasted" their money...really, I had intended
to take the job if it were offered until I had the 2nd interview. You might
be wary of this situation happening and prepare a response.
