Mary Agnes, I have seen permanent damage done to the frame of a mirror by
wrapping in bubble wrap - the images of the bubbles were etched into the
finish. This was a new item, and I don't know what the finish was. I would
be very hesitant to entrust a valuable piece to plastic wrap.
