I haven't been following the sticky trap/mice thread too closely, so my
apologies if someone has already mentioned this. Mice pose a serious health
threat to humans as they are carries of Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome. My
understanding is that deer mice are the main culprit, those other species
may be carriers as well. When mice are found in sticky traps, or if nests
are found, or even just feces we invoke procedures that resemble HazMat
responses. We would never consider handing mice, dead or alive without
proper respiratory protection. Hanta virus can kill you.
