The Smithsonian National Zoological Park in Washington, DC seeks an
experienced registrar whose duties will include advising the Director on
implementation of collections management policy and matters relevant to
registration; monitoring collection activity for compliance with policy and
procedure; developing procedures and systems for inventory control of the
collections via automated and manual systems; setting documentary standards
and report schedules; reviewing collection transactions; arranging
international shipments of live animals and biomaterials; and advising staff
on legal requirements regarding collection activities. Applicant must have
a sound knowledge of concepts, principles and practices of professional
museum registration methods and collection management standards used in a
zoo or similar wildlife setting. This is a Federal position, GS-1001-12,
