Paint by numbers! was a great innovation for the budding young artist of
the mid fifities. A palomino horse and a Swiss chalet if I remember
right. The more sophisticated could get small canvas boards, real tubes
of paint about 1 or 2 inches long, and a picture of what was outlined on
the canvas.
And the How to Draw books started about then.
And Landmark books for the junior high student who loved history. Only
