Christian,

It gets murky in regards to ethics and legal guidelines so I never give out
a name of an appraiser.  I have a few I have worked with and trust, but when
giving out names to the public I just send them to the ASA website and let
them fend for themselves.  That way I know I have directed them to someone
held to a high standard of education and ethics and don't have to worry
about them getting got.   I know may quality appraisers aren't members of
ASA, and even ASA has a dog or two, but this is a nice blanket answer I can
give to people.  If I were to give out a list of names I would have every
little old lady in town asking me what I thought of the individual and who
they should use, this way someone else has to field all of the questions.
Maybe not the most warm and cuddly answer, but appraisal is not my area of
expertise and I don't have time to keep a list updated and to make sure that
only ethical people are on it, and would feel terrible if someone got a less
than honest appraisal from a name I gave them.
