Regarding news postings and copyrights as they relate to the "fair use" provision ..
The standard that I've been following on my site is TITLE 17, CHAPTER 1, Sec. 107.
of the U.S. Code:

It specifically addresses news items as they relate to nonprofit educational
situations .. as with "THE LAW" in general .. open to interpretation .. and
litigation ;-) ...
