And to add to John's astute comments..."diversity" is often a problem in
America's rural/small town museums. We often don't have the ethnic
diversity that is reflected by urban museums, and sometimes we feel we must
look for gratuitous diversity, to show grantors that we are diverse. Now
that's just bad. In rural, underserved communities diversity doesn't have to
be ethnic, it can relate to a large audience of underserved people who may
have never set foot in a museum (or had the opportunity to)...but are of
European American heritage.
