I second this. We recently completed a new facility and we used a local
company (Milford Enterprises, Quakertown, PA) that designs and fabricates
retail fixtures. They built exactly what I wanted, an upright case 72" high
and about 24" wide for $2000 (among other things). I thought it was
extremely reasonable, so looking into this kind of company may be the way to
go.

Our museum recently spent about $10,000 in February on new display cases
with vitrines, or plex bonnets. We used a local company, River City
Fixtures, here in Oklahoma. They work with large department stores across
the country with a wide variety of needs, and I'm sure that your location is
no problem for them.
Having custom built cases worked very, very well for us. If your budget
allows, I highly recommend it. We were able to match the new fixtures to
original 1930 fixtures in our building and design them to meet our somewhat
unique needs. Although we are not a large museum, we viewed it as a very
good investment - and gave a bit of polish to our community image as well.
Please feel free to contact me and I'd be happy to share our plans, budget,
and contact information.

Hello Museum world,
My director just informed me that we have some end of the fiscal year $.
I now have $7,000 to spend on a display case or cases. I have built them
before but I've never bought one. We are in the St. Louis area if that
makes any difference. Could anyone give me a companies name that you
have dealt with before and where happy with?? And if your thinking why
not use the $ for materials and build a few of them, they will not let
me do that.
Thanks,
