Muddier still is the "interesting" twist as follows .. Let's say I draw a
picture of my best buddy .. Magic the Faithful Canine .. (I own the
copyright to that orginal) .. Now let's say my neighbor takes a photo of
my drawing .. (he owns the copyright to the photo). .. If either of wishes
to use the photo in a publication, for example, we EACH must agree/provide
a copyright waiver.
Unless I'm mistaken .. (golly, now THAT's never happened before!)
And odds are that somewhere there would be an enterprising lawyer (from
PETA perhaps?) .. who would find a way to finagle a sitting fee for Magic
.. but that's another topic altogether.
