Have you seen the Mid-Atlantic Association of Museum's (MAAM) new Web site
lately?
Check out the in-depth coverage of museum topics and Mid-Atlantic
opportunities! The top ten reasons to visit MAAM are:
(1) Museum Headline News (homepage) - a news "feed" directly from
WashingtonPost.com that updates DAILY! (More coming soon - look for NYTimes
and Wall Street Journal)
(2) THE MUSEOLOGIST - MAAM's 50-year old bi-monthly journal has been
re-launched ON LINE with content for museum consultants, fund raisers,
volunteer managers, and more!
(3) JOB POSTINGS (under "Opportunities") from some of the country's most
prominent museums in the Mid-Atlantic region. If you are interested in
posting a job, this service is FREE until January 2003! All postings include
a hyperlink to the museum Web site so that you can learn about the
institution posting a job!
(4) MUSEUM YELLOW PAGES - A Resource Directory of museum consultants,
service providers, and product listings ON LINE (currently under
construction - if you are a vendor, fill out the on-line form to be
included)
(5) MESSAGE BOARD - a fantastic and easy way to find answers to your
questions from MAAM staff, MAAM board, and/or members/nonmembers of the
Mid-Atlantic Association of Museums.
(6) RESOURCE DIRECTORY - stay tuned to this section for grants,
scholarships, and other funding resources for you or your museum!!!
(7) LINKS - this section directs you to some of the most important
international, national, regional, and state associations/agencies etc. You
can even recommend links to be included!
(8) MEMBERSHIP - of course, we HAD to include a way for you to join MAAM!
Check out the MAAM Advantage Program for many great ways your membership
actually SAVES you money!
(9) MUSEUM MEMBERS - an on-line directory - with hyperlinks directly to the
museums' Web sites so you can learn more about MAAM members.
(10) MAAM NEWS - stay abreast of all the opportunities to engage with museum
professionals in the Mid-Atlantic Region, including: call for proposals for
the annual meeting, call for volunteers for the program committee, a list of
new members to the association, and more!
I have been a member of Museum-L for many years and have "heard" what many
"listers" are looking for - and MAAM's Web site (we hope) will become a
leader in meeting those needs. Make MAAM your one-stop resource for news
about Mid-Atlantic Museums!
Remember - www.midatlanticmuseums.org - the Web site for current and future
museum leaders in the nation's most densely populated museum community
(professionals, collections, and museums).
Sincerely,
John T. Suau
