The name of the tar pit museum in Los Angeles is the George C. Page Museum/
La Brea Discoveries, 5801 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90036
(323) 934-PAGE. Their informative web site is at : http://www.tarpits.org
I have spent some pleasant time looking through the observation window at the
volunteers who are sorting tiny bone fragments and using solvents to clean
bones. It is amazing to learn of the importance of the tiny specks of pollen
and other small things that tell so much of the story of these very big lost
animals. For the many young people on the tour I am sure it gives them an
idea of a kind of job they would never have considered before.
