Here's something you might want to consider for the
future...

We just had an 1865 square grand piano donated that
has been fully restored by the donor.  Since we intend
to play this piano (after it is voiced and tuned), I
decided not to accession it into our Permanent
Collection.  We have an Exhibition Collection --
similar to a Teaching Collection -- that we use when
we plan to use an artifact.  I explain to the donors
the difference between the collections, so that they
understand what we intend to do with their donation.
We use this option very sparingly, and we intend to
make the distinction to the public -- either through
an announcement or in a program -- why we play this
instrument.  It sorta calms the Curator in me to
handle it this way. :)
