DIRECTOR



The French Legation Museum, site of the French diplomatic mission to the
Republic of Texas and home to the oldest frame building in Austin [1840], is
a small historic house museum near downtown Austin.  Currently, the Museum
seeks a creative, flexible, multitasking individual for the position of
Director.



Job Summary:  Manages and directs the French Legation Museum in areas of
Education and Interpretation; Preservation and Maintenance; Collections and
Archives Management; Administration and Finance; Development, Publicity and
Public Relations; Personnel; and Facility Rentals.  Performs other duties as
required.  Reports to the Chairman, French Legation Committee, Daughters of
the Republic of Texas, Inc.



Qualifications:  requires significant managerial experience; an advanced
degree in history, museum studies, business administration, or related field
is preferred. The successful candidate should possess the following: a
minimum of 3 years administrative experience in a museum setting, strong
communication and organizational skills, exemplary interpersonal skills,
personnel administration proficiency, proven success in financial planning
and management, fund raising experience, the ability to establish and
maintain advantageous community alliances, a general knowledge of museum
operations and program development, and demonstrated leadership qualities.
The ability to work effectively with diverse groups, including staff, board,
volunteers, and community members is essential.



Salary:  Beginning salary is in the $22,000 to $25,000 range, plus an
excellent benefit package.
