The committee that organized the founding of the Museum of Modern Art
consisted of both men and women.
I agree that plenty of smart women have started museums and historical
societies, but in the case of MOMA I would suspect that these were rich
women who were not paid.

Actually a good number of historical societies and museums were started
by educated, smart, saavy women--a prime example, the Museum of Modern
Art. The men came into the picture later.
