Hello Jeffrey,
I agree with Valerie's post. An on-line lesson plan cannot replace a
real museum visit. There is something more enchanting and immediate
about the museum environment, the docent- or teacher-led tour,
accompanying activities, etc. It's what Walter Benjamin called the
"aura" of the authentic.
We currently have six "Educator Resource Packets" on-line - with text,
images and activity suggestions. Teachers often use these as
preparation before or follow-up after a Museum visit. Naturally, one
can consider posting educational materials on-line as an opportunity to
build your long-distance audience - teachers in schools (or
home-schoolers) far away who can finally access your museum's
collection(s).
