The couple times I've been out of town on business, for a conference or
whatnot, I mark it on my timesheet as 8-hour days. It doesn't seem like your
employer should need to pay you for sleeping, showering, watching TV at the
hotel or whatever. It also seems as though if you take a job that requires
travel, you should be prepared for all that it entails. Having a job with
frequent travel may just not be an option for people with a lot of
responsibilities at home.
