Be very, very careful. The sobig virus is just killing us and it usually comes as an attachment with "re:something." Almost every computer on campus has been infected and IT folks are pulling out their hair. Frankly, I'm not opening any attachments, especially those from people I know. So, if you're sending email requests, etc., to me, be aware that you might need to resend it in a few days.

Subject: Surge in junk mail w/attachments?
Have other members of this list suddenly been besieged in the last 2-3 days
with junk? I keep getting emails with a subject line "RE: details" and they
all simply say "Please see the attached file for details." All the files
have a .pif extension (what is that?). They're all from seemingly
legitimate addresses, but no one I actually know.
At least one of the addresses it came from was a legitimate display company,
which is why I wondered if any of you were getting them too.
Obviously, I haven't opened any of the attachments, but I have no idea where
this flood originated. I'm on a Macintosh, so it's not part of the Windows
virus brigade, I presume.
Any clues?
