Assistant Collections Manager

The Japanese American National Museum seeks candidates to fill the position of Assistant Collections
Manager. Reporting to the Collections Manager, the successful candidate will assist with
exhibition-related activities including loan correspondence, loan agreements, coordination of insurance
coverage for all loans, shipping arrangements, packing/unpacking, cataloging and condition reporting of
incoming and outgoing loans. Participates in exhibition installation and deinstallation. Provides support
in the registration of new acquisitions and duplication loans; labeling; data entry of collection records,
loan records, and other database information. Tracks movement of art and artifacts. Performs with
Collections Manager ongoing inventory of museum collection.
Qualified candidates will have at least one year museum registration or collection management
experience. Knowledge of current registration methods, accepted standard art handling, archival storage
techniques and familiarity with international shipping including customs rules and regulations.
Proficiency with a collection management software, Questor Systems' ARGUS preferred. Excellent
organizational skills, detail oriented, ability to prioritize and ease at multi-tasking required. Minimum B.A.
in history, art history, museum studies or related field required. Position starts immediately.
