Unfortunately, it is not the norm. Most teachers have to deal with the whole kit-and-kaboodle of student issues. The school social workers, when the schools have them, are over worked and underpaid as well. It should be a joint endeavor, but too few teachers, too many students, problems get missed. I just think that teachers should be better equipped.
