Actually, you would do much better both for yourselves and for the
organization to set a fee....rather than a percentage. Many grantors today
WILL not give grants that have a percentage of the grant guaranteed to the
grant writer.
Create an hourly fee or a per project fee, but a percentage basis is death in
today's granting climate. You can make the cost of the grant writing part of
the budget for the grant, thereby, in fact, including it in the ability to
receive the grant. But percentages are really not good for either you or the
not-for-profit.
