SUMMER INTERNSHIP
EDUCATION INTERN
CAPE FEAR MUSEUM
Cape Fear Museum, which is the state's oldest history museum and is
accredited by the American Association of Museums, is looking to hire a
graduate student as an intern to assist teachers with summer camp and
family gallery programs, consisting of children ages 5-10 years old.
Duties include assembling materials, confirming schedules and overseeing
logistics for camps; developing one program that will be taught and
evaluated at a camp; overseeing the gallery family badge activity;
assisting in other units of the Museum to gain an understanding of how
these areas relate to education; performing receptionist duties as needed.
The ideal candidate will be working in a graduate program, majoring in
Museum Education, Public History or Science Education and preferably have
experience teaching lower elementary grade children in an informal or
formal setting. Must have a valid NC Driver's License and good driving
record. Hours: 8AM-5PM weekdays; must be available for weekend work and
special events. Salary: $9.00 per hour. Position is expected to begin mid
May and end in early August.
