Mary, as someone with a collection that includes thousands of damaged glass
and acetate negatives, I advocate keeping them for their historical evidence,
whether you accession and catalog them or not. I've successfully scanned
quite a few which were not flat due to warping and channeling (just take
precautions to make sure that the lid doesn't press tightly on the negative
and cause further damage), and find that often much useful detail can be
discerned despite the ugly disruption of the image. (On the other hand,
sometimes the damage patterns can be perversely beautiful.)
