Hello to all-
Laurel Forsythe of the New London Public Museum and I are trying to put
together a panel proposal for AAM in May. Proposals are due VERY SOON!
Our working title is "Fostering Connection, Honoring Distinction: The
Role of the Small Museum After 9/11." What we are working with is the
concept of the small museum as a community focal point for multicultural
education and global awareness. Both Laurel and I are working with
Middle Eastern collections and/or topics, but our focus is on the
ability of the small museum to engage its community in building cultural
bridges. Laurel works at a small public museum, and I am the curator of
collections at the Central Archives and Museum on the campus of Central
Missouri State University. We are especially interested in perspectives
from urban museums and museums with a focus on ethnic groups. However,
Laurel and I are waiting to consider anyone!
Please email ASAP if you are interested.
