Does it offend me?  Absolutely not.  Does the list get
upheaved in short measure after a series of these,
often right about the time a new semester starts,
bombard the list, yes.

I have a job.  Tomorrow morning, I have a half-day
assignment that will continue through the following
week.  I'm temping these days, doing other things
until I can find the one that fits.  This time, it's
in a PR department.  So it's not that I'm averse to
the concept of needing help, not in the least.

Perhaps I'm just a little sensitive.  If you read the
list, the group spoke to this subject several times,
and the MuseJobs list was an offshoot of that concept.
 If the figures still hold, there are 4,500 here, and
over 400 there.  Seems to me there is a need for job
information, but, unless I'm misunderstanding
something, this isn't exactly the want ads.

We tried mentoring here earlier this year.  I don't
need to know, but I'm wondering how many connected and
got mentors, and how many are still connected.  That
may tell you just how successful putting such an ad
before the list is.

In my last assignment, I had opportunity to do some HR
screening.  For a nonmuseums job, a simple job in a
customer service department, I screened over 200
applications in no time flat.  There are substantively
more candidates for jobs then there are jobs to be
had.

Myself, I think the guy's approach was rather clever,
but there are other resources out there that some of
us have put a good deal of effort into for free and
the betterment of others.
