The pendulum disappeared in stages.  First it was moved out of the way
temporarily to accommodate some special programs, the first being a
performance of the Dance Theatre of Harlem.  Then the cable was shortened so
that the pendulum swung only on the second floor rather than down to the
first (much less dramatic), and finally it was removed altogether.  I assume
it's in storage, but I haven't checked.

Incidentally, I must correct my correction.  I left out a word in the the
exhibition title: the correct title is "A Material World."
