You might have better luck talking to a small university press. They should
have more experience contracting with multiple authors for compilation
publications, like a catalog or textbook.
I'm glad to see you taking these issues seriously. With legal issues like
copyright and work-for-hire involved, a smile-and-a-handshake agreement
based on good intentions can dig your institution into a pretty deep hole.
Sure, probably nothing will happen -but on the small chance that something
does- having your back covered can make the difference between the long-term
success or failure of your institution.

Subject: author contracts for catalogs
Dear Listservers,
Two weeks ago, I sent out a request asking if anyone has an example of an
institutional contract that has been used between a museum and its
contributing catalog authors. Off-line I received 5 messages from
individuals asking me to share with them the responses I might receive.
Unfortunately I did not receive any examples of contracts to pass along.
Hence, this second message. Is anyone willing to pass along their
institution's approach to author contracts? Anything you can share will be
much appreciated.
Thank You!
