At the 2000 AASLH conference, there was a "Lighten Up Luncheon" in which
people were invited to recount crazy, silly, absurd experiences. Andy
Masich and William Tramposch chaired the event for "museum directors and
other humor-impaired history professionals." Someone told a very funny
anecdote about a visitor using a bathroom in an historic building that was
supposed to be just for exhibition. Not expecting anyone to be in the
bathroom, the docent giving a tour said to his group, "You'll never guess
what's behind this door!" and swung the door open to reveal a very
embarrassed woman.
Perhaps the person who told the story can elaborate???
