And now for something completely different...we have in our collection a
large very well done o/c of several moose in a forest. The frame has a
mounted plaque with the artist's name G. F. Rotig (O with an umlaut). I've
found enough info to lead me to believe he was French, working at the turn
of the 20th century, and it seemed that deer, moose, and other hunting
scenes were his genre. This may be a painting that we are considering for
deaccession so I would be interested if anyone could provide me with more
biographical info and auction records, if possible (of great interest to my
collections committee).
Thanks again,
Candace Perry
