MUSEUM SCIENCE EDUCATOR (100% GRANT-FUNDED)
CAPE FEAR MUSEUM
Funded through the NC Grassroots Science Museum Collaborative, this
position performs professional work planning, developing and teaching
curriculum-based education programs in science, history or
multi-disciplines for on-site and outreach school classes. Additionally,
duties involve organizing and creating program kits; obtaining community
speakers; marketing the programs; scheduling and evaluating volunteer
docents; and assisting with making reservations and leading group tours.
Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Life Sciences, Science Education, Museum
Studies or related field and 1 year experience as a museum or classroom
educator that includes developing and teaching children's programs and
working with adult volunteers; or an equivalent combination of education
and experience. Must be familiar with NC history and state science
curricula and be able to operate a computer and audio-visual and other
equipment. Valid NC Driver's License and good driving record required.
Hours are generally between 8AM-5PM weekdays with some weekend work to
accommodate programs and coverage rotation; must be available for emergency
situations. Position will last as long as funding is available. Minimum
starting salary: $32,802 plus a competitive benefits package. Completed
